If you own a pistol that chamber's that ammo i.e. AR/AK or Tompson Contender pistol in 762X39 you are in posession of Armor piercing ammunition (a Federal law) and that is not legal... defined by ANY handgun ammunition containing a steel or other hard alloy that is able to peneatrate soft body armor. Too bad Klinton and China made a deal to not import guns and ammo in the 90's... I love that ammo, as it make some great sparks, shooting steel at night...but I would not pay such a high price just to have a cool light show... I still have a few 75 rd drums full of that ammo loaded in the 90's wow I'm getting old.....B2B

Not exactly! Only importation and manufacture are banned. Possesion and transfer of steel core ammo is completely legal as long as no local/state laws prevent doing so.
