I took my first build (1917) to a gunsmith who is going to park it for me and shot 30 rounds into his snail drum. It worked perfect without a hiccup!!:) It was pretty cool when he asked me to wait a few minutes before shooting it because all his friends with their cameras weren't there yet. Its a good feeling shocking someone who you think has already seen it all!
I wanted the gun parked and the jacket blued but I cant afford the bluing. He suggested polishing the jacket and black oxide or polish and black chrome.
Does anyone have any info on which will look better? I basically want a contrast between the gun and the jacket with the jacket being as glossy as possible. also when I took the cap off the back plate the pin that holds the disks in was all the way down into the grip. I can see the end of it but cant get anything in there to pull it out. Any suggestions?

Congrats on your new build.

You might have to work that pin a bit with some penetrating oil. The spring likely has alot of crap in there and its sticking in the collapsed position. Spray the **** out of it and work the pin until it surfaces enough to grab with some long nose pliers and carefully remove it.

A drywall screw can be used to remove the spring if its stuck in the hole. Carefully screw the screw into the end of the spring just enough to catch and hold it then use pliers to pull or work it loose.

Just did one a few days ago this way, it was loaded up with rusty sediment and oil.
