Unless One's been hiding under a rock for the last several decades, one may already know of this, but something's got to be done about it. You have been designated!

Are Members Of Congress Lying To Us About The UN Threat On July 4th?

ACTION: Please urge one's two U.S. Senators to cosponsor legislation by Sen. David Vitter (S. 1488) to withhold funds from the UN. AND please send a message to the State Department, encouraging The Honorable Secretary Condoleezza Rice and our ambassador to the UN, he Honorable John Bolton, to oppose the global gun control that is being planned for July 4!

Contact information and pre-written language can be found at the end of this
alert.

This letter started off innocently enough:

"Dear Friend," it says. "Thank you for taking the time to contact me... regarding United Nations (UN) firearm regulation and protection of Second Amendment rights."

The senator goes on to say, "As an American citizen, I believe that is of the utmost importance to protect our liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. Among these is the Second Amendment."

Sounds like one of our guys, right?

Actually, this May 11, 2006 letter was penned by none other than one of the most anti-gun senators in the Congress -- Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI).

What especially catches my attention is that Sen. Kohl emphatically states that the UN is NOT trying to disarm us.

"Current UN proposals do not infringe upon these [Second Amendment] rights," he says. "The State Department has assured me that 'the Convention is intended to address the problem of transnational trafficking in firearms, and is not meant to regulate the internal firearms trade' of individual nations, including the United States."

Did Kohl really say that? And did the State Department really say that current UN proposals don't infringe upon Second mendment rights? That the UN is only interested in stopping the international trafficking of firearms, and is not trying to infringe the rights of law-abiding citizens?

Well, "that's a bunch of horse-pucky."

The United Nations has ALREADY TRIED to impose mandatory gun controls for member nations. In 2001, delegates from more than 140 nations met together to hammer out various firearms restrictions. But there were a few countries -- most notably, the United States -- that resisted all efforts to discuss legally binding measures or restrictions on civilian ownership of firearms.

The hero at that conference was our very own Ambassador John Bolton, who at that time was an undersecretary for arms control at the State Department.
Bolton, who is now the US Ambassador to the UN, said that our country would not support any language that conflicted with the constitutional right of our citizens to keep and bear arms!

That was the proverbial wrench in the cog wheel. Without U.S. support for mandatory restrictions, the agreement became a "voluntary" one.

MAKE NO MISTAKE, the overwhelming majority of member nations at the UN HATE the idea of civilians owning guns, they want to bring an end to such freedoms. They DESPISE our Second Amendment Constitional rights!

The leading organization that is pushing for global gun control is IANSA (International Action Network on Small Arms). They are the umbrella lobby group for all the anti-gun groups at the United Nations.

IANSA is helping coordinate an international convention this July 4 to discuss, among other things, "the importance of regulating guns owned by civilians." This is the latest series of conferences where nations are putting together a global gun control treaty.

SENATOR KOHL IS EITHER LYING OR IS IGNORANT to what the UN has been up to. All he needs to do is check the IANSA website to see what the global gun grabbers are saying about the upcoming global meeting on small arms. Kohl tells his constituent that the UN "will not infringe upon the rights of U.S. citizens to bear 'firearms such as HUNTING RIFLES OR PISTOLS.'"

that is EXACTLY WHAT a majority of the UN delegates want. In its 2006 report, "Bringing the Global Gun Crisis Under Control," IANSA defines small arms as "weapons that can be carried and used by an individual, for example, revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns, sub-machine guns and assault rifles." So, it sure does sound like they're talking about regulating the kinds of guns that average citizens own.

IANSA laments that "there are no international guidelines to assist states in regulating gun ownership among their own citizens." What kinds of guidelines (that is, gun restrictions) would IANSA like to see imposed in countries around the world -- Consider a sampling:

* Registration of all firearms
* A national system of licensing
* Prohibition on the private ownership of military-style rifles,
including semi-automatic variants
* Mandatory, lock-up-your-safety storage requirements

Thankfully, THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I, YOU, WE CAN DO ABOUT THIS!

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has introduced the Second Amendment Protection Act (S. 1488), which will "withhold funding from the United Nations if the United Nations abridges the rights provided by the Second Amendment to the Constitution."

If the UN wants to meddle with America's internal affairs and attempt to undermine our freedoms and U.S. Constitution, the American taxpayers can stop paying a huge portion (22%) of the entire UN budget, something which we can ill afford and which serves no great purpose at any time.

If the UN tries to mess with us, they might pay a price for it!

CONTACT INFORMATION:

1. Please urge your two U.S. Senators to cosponsor the Vitter legislation (S. 1488) to withhold funds from the UN. To contact your senators, you can visit the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send them the first pre-written message below.

2. Please send a message to the State Department, encouraging The Honorable Secretary Condoleezza Rice and our ambassador to the UN, The Honorable Ambassador John Bolton, to oppose these global gun controls. While there is no direct email that is available, you can contact them via phone or fax (Talking Points are provided below to assist you:)

Phone: 202-647-9572
Fax: 202-647-2283

---------Pre-written to one's Senators---------

Dear Senator:

I find it extremely irritating that the United Nations is holding another gun control conference from June 27 - July 7. While we are celebrating one of our most sacred national holidays on July 4, gun grabbers will be meeting on U.S. soil to discuss plans for our disarmament.

One can find out what these international gun grabbers have planned by going to the IANSA website. As the umbrella lobby group for all the anti-gun groups at the United Nations, they have posted their agenda for all to see. They have, by no means, kept their plans secret.

The United Nations has ALREADY TRIED to impose mandatory gun controls for member nations. In 2001, delegates from more than 140 nations met together to hammer out various firearms restrictions. But at that time, it was our very own John Bolton, who said that our country would not support any language that conflicted with the constitutional right of our citizens to keep and bear arms.

Primarily because of Bolton's efforts, the 2001 meeting ended without any binding measures or restrictions on civilian ownership of firearms.

But the UN is at it again. And that's why it's essential that you support S. 1488, the Second Amendment Protection Act. This bill -- introduced by Sen. David Vitter -- will "withhold funding from the United Nations if the United Nations abridges the rights provided by the Second Amendment to the Constitution."

If the UN wants to meddle with America's internal affairs and attempt to undermine our freedoms and our U.S. Constitution, they should pay
a price for it.

I will appreciate a written response from you as to whether or not you plan to cosponsor this bill, regardless of your support or lack thereof. Thanking you for your consideration of this important maytter, I am

Cordially,

(Signed)

Talking Points for State Dept. Sec. Rice and Ambassador Bolton --

I find it extremely irritating that the United Nations is holding another gun control conference from June 27 - July 7. While we are celebrating one of our most sacred national holidays on July 4, gun grabbers will be meeting on U.S. soil to discuss plans for our disarmament.

Both Secretary Rice and U.N. Ambassador Bolton have been strong defenders of gun rights in the past. So I hope that you both will continue to do everything within your power to make sure that this great nation does not spend a single tax dollar in helping these global gun tyrants to enact a treaty putting international pressure upon the United States to disarm citizens and patriots.

Senator Herb Kohl is claiming that your State Department has assured him that the intentions of current UN proposals are intended to "address the problem of transnational trafficking in firearms, and is not meant to regulate the internal firearms trade" of individual nations, including the United States.

This is just simply not right, it is wrong in spoken and written word, and in deed. The United Nations has ALREADY TRIED to impose mandatory gun controls for member nations -- such as in 2001, when delegates from more than 140 nations met together to hammer out various firearms restrictions. Thankfully, that meeting ended without any binding measures or restrictions on civilian ownership of legal firearms, and I believe you two were largely helpful in attaining that outcome.

But the UN is at it again. IANSA, the umbrella lobby group for all the anti-gun groups at the United Nations, has not kept their plans for our country a secret. They have their agenda posted on their website, and it is available for all to see.

Again, I hope you will stand against these plans. And please know that good Americans all over this country are standing behind you and want you to stand firm against this onslaught against our rights, one very solid foundation of democracy, as to which the written wisdom of our founders attests. Thank you for your consideation you have given this missive, and I remain

Cordially,

I don't get why everybody believes that the UN has this power to take over the world, ......the UN can't decide what to have for lunch, you people are giving more power to the UN then it really has.......most of the UN does it just pass resolutions that don't mean ****, unless the member countries abide by that.

the congress is what I'm concerned about, not the UN which is a toothless tiger

this "letter" has the same tone as the NRA scare letter to get more money from it's members

Slowfire....If the UN is so "toothless",how were they able to disarm Austrailia,New Zeland, and England?? How were they able to get Canada, just 250 mi from my door,to pass laws that are attempting to register and collect every gun in that country. When are Americans going to wake up....when the powers that be come to your door and point an MP5 at your wife's head and demand all your firearms?? I'M NOT WAITING THAT LONG.....

The U.N didn't do that. The governments of each of those countries did that. Slowfire is right - the U.N. can make resolutions and recommendations, but the individual countries have to enact their own laws. Our own senate and congress, and the individual state governments are the only real threats we face. The U.S. can veto any U.N. resolution, and can choose to ignore their recommendations, but the key to this is within our own government. The U.N. will not invade us, any more than it did any of the countries you listed. Name a single action the U.N. has ever taken that was even partly successful without the U.S. military being part of it's support.

Thats exactly what the UN enacted here in Australia!

Everybody blames our Prime Minister for the gun bans, but they fail to notice that the UN has a stick up his arse

Nearly every Aussie I meet hates Americans with a passion, but I say God Bless America!, for standing armed and proud in a world full of evil:cool:

My countrymen aren't even capable of making war with the "enemy inside". We have no arms with which to fight, and as a result, no Will to fight.

UN plans....

BillS/Double 8....Guys....The countries of Japan,Canada,England and several smaller nations funded, instigated and are the major forces behind a UN master plan to dis-arm THE WORLD. IF a US President gets into office and is sympthatic to this effort,we could have a MAJOR PROBLEM. He/she could pass an executive order. Again,my question is....who tried to stop the illegal confiscation of firearms in New Orleans? What are you doing to make your voices heard? As General Lee said .....WE HAVE NO TIME FOR THIS...,as he was explaining to Gen. Forrest (?) why he needed him....not recriminations or in-fighting among themselves. We are all in this together......

I have yet to meet an Austrailian that hates Americans. My Mom's brother (my uncle) taught school there for 27 years there and raised three kids down under. I have never heard such as thing as this. I also have a cousin in New Zealand who raised 13 children there. My Mom and step dad recently visited them and were well recieved in BOTH New Zealand AND Austrailia.
Why are we hated so?

Get the USA out of the UN........

Some day (hopefully not in this lifetime, hoping that hillary clinton doesnt take office) guns of all caliber will be tightly regulated if not illegal, and sooner if no one stands up to these bas7urds an puts their foot down, draws the line and says No-its our country get flip out. Start saying NO instead of shrugging your shoulders. I hate the United Nations to begin with they are nothing more than pansies & wimps when it comes to war, and Commies when its dealing with politics.

I highly doubt that our own soldiers will kill their own people, if the UN ever gets control over our country and starts confiscation of all guns dont you think that they would impose a new authority to make that choice........they could pick from a varity of other nations that hate Americans to force citizens to give it up or die fighting, from the days of time no americans have given up in the fight against tyranny.

Fight with what you have, support the Pro-Gunners and our entire Bill of Rights, when 1 right of the people is stripped away the rest will fall behind in short order, remember the Dems think that Americans want leadership :bs:......we dont need leadership, we want to be left alone.

That is totally contrary to my experience on any of my several trips to Oz, everybody was totally friendly and open. The only places that I've found that may be, slightly, more American friendly are New Zealand and Ireland.

YMMV

the NRA has turned into nothing but a bloated organization that has it's hand out at every opportunity, now if you guys want to give them your money, great...... but I won't......they have proven time and time again, that they really don't do nothing in way of fighting existng laws that have been passed recently, only thing they are good at is sending out letters asking for money, to fight a fight, they won't fight. I send my money to my grass root state orgaizations, that have done more then the NRA ever has.

I've had to wear the blue helmet, and I'm in the U.S. military, don't use my noodle as a target:D

The truth is the U.S. ignores U.N. resolutions all the time, and someone mentioned we have veto power. As far as talk of us pulling out, since we primarily fund it, and founded it, I don't think that is going to happen.

The spirit of that U.N. small arms deal is to stop weapons from entering Africa, most of which come from former Soviet countries. As far as our guns, never say never, but we are the biggest maker and exporter of weapons in the world. That military industrial complex the conspiracy guys talk about, thats what makes the gears turn here in the U.S.A.

Many countries have VERY strict gun laws. The former USSR is a good example, but it isn't unusual to see civies with RPG's, the reason: when they take grand-pappy's shotgun from you, the only other prolific weapons are military/police hardware.

If you have the will you can always be armed, it may not be legal, but in my opinion neither would the law. 50 years from now if your son blasts some turd for breaking into his house, he won't call 911, he will have to get a shovel and head to the woods, that's probably the reality.

Men get to an age when the "things" they have worked for become more valuable than the freedoms that allowed them to aquire those things. The will to fight is smothered by the will to grow old and die in bed like a sick woman.

Befor you talk about fighting guy's in gay blue berets and funny accents, remember that we have plenty of jokers in every state that want nothing more than to use our constitution to wipe their arse. Most shame-fully there are plenty more people who won't do a damn thing to stop them.

I took my oath, and I plan to keep my word to God.
