Guys,
I am a member of the largest gun club in Maryland, located just outside Baltimore. We have just under 2000 members and growing now that some changes have been made. Its called the AGC or Marriottsville (To the locals). http://www.associatedgunclubs.org/
Well we have been trying to get FA shooting allowed at the range as its been banned for years. We are having a lot of success and we hope it will be a normal part of AGC shooting soon. As part of this we have hosted (Twice now) the Thompson Collectors Association Tommy gun shoot. Well the last one was held at the end of July. It was a great shoot. The course of fire was:
General Shoot: Full size target.
20 shots, 50 yards, semi auto.
20 shots, 25 yards, full auto bursts.
20 shots, 10 yards, full auto bursts.
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto, burst-burst-mag dump.
Spray and Pray: 8.5"x11" blank piece of paper
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto, 1 trigger pull
Osama (No not obama) Shoot: 8.5"x11" Picture
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto bursts
I think at last count there was about 33 legal Thompsons at the range with only 3 being post samples! There were guns that non owners could borrow for the shoot, as I did. I knew the owner of the WH 1928 model I shot. There were many first time shooter there along with many people who have been shooting the gun before I was born.
Everything went off great with zero safety issues. There was one FTF that jammed a gun but it was finally removed without safety concerns. It was a warm but not hot day and the rain held off until after the shoot. Well I know everyone loves pictures so here you go:

So how did I do? Well not to toot my own horn, but I was very happy. I won the Spray and Pray, getting all 20 shots on the paper and was the only one to do so. I also finished second overall. For my first FA shoot, I was very very happy with that considering it was not my gun and I probably lost a few because I know I had some high shots at the 50 yard semi as the sights were low. I got a nice little plaque with a scale 1928 Thompson sticking off it. It was really cool.
The day before and after the shoot, there was a Thompson display with a ton of Thompsons and some very rare items! I really like the 30-06 Thompson.
