Guys,

I am a member of the largest gun club in Maryland, located just outside Baltimore. We have just under 2000 members and growing now that some changes have been made. Its called the AGC or Marriottsville (To the locals). http://www.associatedgunclubs.org/

Well we have been trying to get FA shooting allowed at the range as its been banned for years. We are having a lot of success and we hope it will be a normal part of AGC shooting soon. As part of this we have hosted (Twice now) the Thompson Collectors Association Tommy gun shoot. Well the last one was held at the end of July. It was a great shoot. The course of fire was:

General Shoot: Full size target.
20 shots, 50 yards, semi auto.
20 shots, 25 yards, full auto bursts.
20 shots, 10 yards, full auto bursts.
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto, burst-burst-mag dump.

Spray and Pray: 8.5"x11" blank piece of paper
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto, 1 trigger pull

Osama (No not obama) Shoot: 8.5"x11" Picture
20 shots, 7 yards, full auto bursts

I think at last count there was about 33 legal Thompsons at the range with only 3 being post samples! There were guns that non owners could borrow for the shoot, as I did. I knew the owner of the WH 1928 model I shot. There were many first time shooter there along with many people who have been shooting the gun before I was born.

Everything went off great with zero safety issues. There was one FTF that jammed a gun but it was finally removed without safety concerns. It was a warm but not hot day and the rain held off until after the shoot. Well I know everyone loves pictures so here you go:

Now here is one good handsome expert shooter! ;)

So how did I do? Well not to toot my own horn, but I was very happy. I won the Spray and Pray, getting all 20 shots on the paper and was the only one to do so. I also finished second overall. For my first FA shoot, I was very very happy with that considering it was not my gun and I probably lost a few because I know I had some high shots at the 50 yard semi as the sights were low. I got a nice little plaque with a scale 1928 Thompson sticking off it. It was really cool.

The day before and after the shoot, there was a Thompson display with a ton of Thompsons and some very rare items! I really like the 30-06 Thompson.

Haha... I know... I will get first place next time the shoot comes to MD!

Its Running well in the stock setup. I need to do some welding on Stony Creek upper to get it to run right. I just got the tank for the tig... so its coming. For now its a fun little bullet hose.

Oh and you finally grew a pair and did not feel the need for a mile long disclaimer at the bottom of the last post... :p

around here you sometimes need a disclaimer - you will always be good to go in my book cause you're not a sensitive sally :D

No, no Tommy for now... even if I could afford it. Right now I have access to two I can shoot fairly often anyway. Maybe a MG08/15 sideplate in a year or so. I have some other issues coming up...

I am proud of you resisting the urge to write a disclaimer. They must at least be the size of Hamster nuts now :p

You guys should meet halfway and have a match. 30grit vs. Napoleon.
Mike, I guess he knows we would both kick his ass... thats why he did not include himself!

Yeah that old fart might beat me but only if we allow the use of canes and the Nursing home will let him out. :p

Ofcourse the worst part of him beating me would be the hours of him telling me its ok, I did not really lose, he did not really mean it... you know the normal BS he puts in those disclaimers.

Yeah I almost made it out the one day but you know how it is... I can not blow off family to meet some guy, who I never actually met, from the internet even if its for a good cause like going to shoot guns! Maybe next time I make it out there (Probably 2 years or so) I will plan in a little extra time. Really I am just waiting for him to get some good FA guns before I come. Did you get your FA BAR yet? I really want to fire one of those. At least a belt fed too!

Everyone else must really be wondering reading this and not knowing any of the History from cetmerifles...

Mike, I'll be there in a heartbeat. hehe I'd love to meet up sometime to shoot, either guns or the breeze. I may actually be out there in 4 months or so. My girlfriend has a medical conference to attend. Hell, I'd even be up for the drive out there. That's one area we have yet to visit on our road trips.

loved the pictures , I just sent of for a semi auto Thompson today cant wait for it to get here.
Yeah the semis are fun too. I have had two. The first I broke a bolt, 2 firing pins, 3 extractors, a safety and bent a feedramp. So they finally gave up on fixing it and sent me a new gun! Hopefully this one will work better.
