I am fairly new here and I really enjoy all of the useful information. I am in the final stages of my first 1919 semi build and I am wondering if the RSP needs to be welded. I have heard it both ways and I want to keep it legal.

This is a great website and I hope to continue to gather more information here. Thanks for all of the help.

As long as you riveted It together and not a screw build you do not need to weld. There is a BATF letter saying so on the front page but the link is down right now. maybe somebody can send you a copy of the letter.

Welcome to the Fellowship of the Beltfed. If you think you're ready for this, think again. If you have a "business manager" you're gonna' need to learn how to sneak stuff into your house -- ammo, parts, firearms, etc. One trick you might want to try is to always carry an empty box with you when you go out -- "to trade." Then, when you come back, just learn to carry it like you did when you went out. If another "closet queen" shows up later, it's something you've "had for a while!"

No "deep welds" (ie., no welds) of the sideplate are necessary. Trust me, even though Lobo's excellent information is currently unavailable on this site, don't bother. Unless BATFE (the Bureau of All Things Fun and Exciting) has made a new "directive" since yesterday, it's not necessary.

Carry On!
