Goodday all,

Well, having a minor issue with my 1919.

The top-cover pops open now and then while firing. I'm wondering if the top cover latch spring is weak perhaps?

Any suggestions?

That could be the problem. The latch spring is riveted onto to latch so unless you can find a spring and rivet you will likely need a new latch.

Here's some info on latches http://m1919tech.com/23039.html

I would also check the engagement of the latch on the cover, latching engagement is supposed to be .060-.080

If you have to replace the latch I would go with the "A6" push button style.

You can give the spring a little more bend to tighten. It wont take much it's harder lo loosen than to tighten so go easy. J.R.

Hmmm.....I would expect the latch to close tighter with recoil, so I would check the metal to metal engagement where the cover and latch meet and make sure it is engaged enough to begin with.....
