I have a Ohio Rapid Fire 1919a4 that was recently completely refurbished. The gun is in .308, fires and functions 100%. It has the standard pistol grip trigger with a trunion protector. I also have about 400-500 linked rounds to go with the gun.

A guy I know locally wants to trade me his 3 month old Smith & Wesson M&P ar15T. The gun comes with 4 mags, sling, iron sights, some ammo plus $100 cash.

Im not too familiar with this platform of ar15 but everywhere i search i hear good things.

I want to get rid of my 1919 and get a ar, and basically wanted to know if this is a fair trade.

The S&W when it first came out was built by Bushmaster ,S&W tried to buy BM, but it didn't go over.
They are good rifles , The 1919a4 isn't bringing what it once did ,look on GB or GA ,people want something they can run with.
Ammo prices didn't help things either.
An H&K 91 once brought $4,000.00 ,you would be lucky to get $2,500.00 now.
Yet the 93 in 223 went for $1,500.00 ,now they are going for as high as 4k.
The 94 is the same and an H&K SP 89 is the top seller for 6k NIB.

Ya well i know the gun MSRPS for 1700....they are selling for around 1300 new on GunBroker. hmm. I really dont want to go through the hassle of selling my 1919...to many damn tire kickers plus the whole ffl if i sell it out of state. Should I be getting more out of this or what?

It's not a bad trade, I'd say fair, keep in mind .308 is NOT going to be reasonable for yrs, for a while .223 wasn't and production/importation has finally caught up.

Which would you rather be shooting right now? I'd say the one that readily takes a pistol caliber upper or .22 conversion if .223 gets any higher.
