Hi All,

I have three tripods and three different T&E's and they do not seem to fit on the T&E transverse bar at all! Using my calipers the bar on one measures 19.66mm to 19.70mm. The inside of one T&E is 19.09mm and the other one is 19.09mm. What is going on here? Anyone have the same problem and if so how did you fix it?

Is this an M2 or M3 tripod, sounds like you have 30 cal T&E's and a 50 cal Travis bar..........

They are all m2 tripods and I have three different types of T&E's a early .30 and later .30. Also think one is for the .50!?

So you are saying you have a 0.03" difference between the Diameter of the rod and the ID of the T&E (19.70-19.09=.69mm) Sounds like a little sanding/cleaning is all that is needed here. Are you sure the lock body on the T&E is backed out 100%

Yes the set screw is backed out. The T&E bar is parked and I think that MIGHT be the problem! I do not know.

This is my first complete setup.

Does the T&E just drop onto the bar freely? Do you have to loosen the transverse bar and slide it on that way?

You should be able to back off the T&E lever/lock and while holding it open (spring loaded) just drop it on the traverse bar. You might find that you need to remove the lever and spring (via screw) and then back off the threaded bolt/cam piece a little. Then reinstall the lever/spring.

That's what I thought and I have done that so must be the park job on the bar.

Southwest or anyone have a measurement on your transverse bar?

Mil spec on the M2 and M122 Traversing bar diameter is .750 +/- .003.

The M3 has a 1.005 +/- .005 bar for comparison.

First off, are the tripods/traverse bars military or aftermarket, and what about the T&E's themselves, aftermarket or military?

The 50 T&E should be way to loose on a traverse bar for an M2. It should be something like 3/16'' to big for the bar.
Something isn't right here.
