This tripod looks like a cross between a 1917 legs and head and an M3 pintle to hold the gun. A regular M2 pintle would probably not be long enough to stay in place. IMO....
Weird. The tripod looks like it is home built from leftover parts. The gun is missing the grips, and what is going on with the front sight? Any history to the picture?
The tripod as set up does not make "military" sense - there is no provision for a T&E assembly. as noted, it looks at least "home adapted" . If you blow up the photo there are a lot if inconsistencies.
