I'm about to purchase material to make myself a M37 top cover latch spring. They seem to
be made out of unobtanium.
Since I'm going to the hassle of having one made I can have more made.
Anyone else looking for some?

These are impossible to find on the loose, gentlemen. If you have ever acquired a stripped M37 top cover and tried to find the parts to populate it, you will understand. Get one just in case!

Thanks Rollin.
I'm just trying to get enough material to be able to make the M37 and ANM2 springs.
Thanks for all your help with my little nightmare.
Back to the shop tomorrow to try and get the M37 .308 conversion to run reliably from a right-hand feed.

Made some progress today on the M37 top cover latch springs.
Test batch of 4 after punching still in sheet.
Bent and deburred ready to go out to get heat treated.
Should have Rollins ANM2 top cover latch springs done tomorrow so I can get all of them Heat treated at the same time.
I'll reach out to all of you that have replied once they are ready to go out.
Thanks for the interest and replies .

Sunday update.
I hate top cover latch springs.
And to think I just needed 1 M37 top cover latch spring for myself.!!!
Let me rephrase that. I hate ANM2 top cover latch springs.
3 separate bends and a little custom tooling required.
Almost ready to send out to get heat treated.
Going to put them in a tumbler tomorrow to try and knock off all the tooling marks.
I have an original M37 and ANM2 top cover latch spring (thanks Rollin)
I made springs out of 1095 . Going to have originals tested to find out hardness.
the samples I have both seem to be zinc plated.
I'm thinking on going all in on this little venture and having them plated too.
Like to hear your thoughts on the plating step.
Can't wait to get back to my day job of fixing peoples shorts.
Oops I mean electrical work.
Stay tuned

George, sorry. It's all my fault on those little ANM2 buggers. I'm sure I'll be getting a suitable bill for the trouble! I'm good on the plating if you go that way, having seen them with and without. Seems common on the M37 ones, at least. Less so on the ANM2 mil production in contrast to MG40, based on my observations. But my thanks to you and our associate for all the effort.

Just be careful while your messing with other people's shorts!

Spring update.
I really wasn't expecting my quest for a M37 top cover latch spring to take me down this path.
Let alone making springs for ANM2 top covers which I don't even own one of.
But hey It happened. (Probably a onetime thing)

Got the M37 and ANM2 springs back from the heat treater on Friday. They are going out for plating tomorrow.
I was told to expect a week possibly 2 weeks before I get them back.
I did test fit one of the M37 springs in my top cover after heat treating and it fit and functioned great.
I did test fit one of the ANM2 springs in a borrowed top cover before heat treating but returned the top cover so I couldn't test it after it was heat treated.

They were made out of 1095 spring steel.
Heat treated to a RC of 46-51
They will be yellow chromate plated and then baked to offset the hydrogen embrittlement.

Some of you have posted interest here in this thread and others have sent me a PM.
If all those that are interested could send me a pm with shipping info I can try to figure out shipping cost.
If there are a group of you close to each other it may be easier and cheaper to combine your orders so that the shipping cost can be lower and split up on your end.

Cost:
I'm offering the M37 springs for $24.00. each
And the ANM2 springs for $26.00 each
At this time, I'm only accepting postal money orders as I'm not really set up to deal with any other form of payment.
I was thinking of sending via usps as well as I can ship them when payment arrives and provide tracking.

I'm still searching for a cheap way to ship them that will be able to be tracked for both parties involved so as to eliminate lost packages.

My Luck someone in Delaware will find a big box of these suckers in the trunk of an old car in his garage before I can get mine back from the plater.
Ok that was a JOKE.

Hell, hath Frozen over!!!!
Sorry for the delay.
My lovely wife gave me the flu for most of February.
The plating was not acceptable the first 2 times and I rejected it.
3rd times the charm or at least it was with these springs.
I test fit them as you can see in the first two pictures.
Both the ANM2 and M37. I didn't include actual pictures of the ANM2 springs loose as I've had 0 interest in any of them (except for Rollin)
(Dear God, please don't make me buy multiple ANM2's just so I have a use for them.)
Both springs are a real pain to install especially if you're trying to use an old cotter pin with any bends in it.
So, I'm including a new cotter pin with each spring.
Tomorrow I will be reaching out to you all via PM.
Regarding payment I'm going to be asking for payment via postal money order.
Looks like priority mail with a tracking # is about $10, so that will be added to your order.

Thanks for your patience with me on this.
It's not my normal gig.
