Just finished this guy up this morning.
I’m very happy with the way this guy turned out.
I tried a new dry graphite lube on the elevation mechanism and it’s slick man. Probably the smoothest one I’ve seen. Everything seems to be done except it’s missing a chain stud and one chain. So we made the best of it. All mating surfaces are cleaned, all threads chased, all holes tapped, pins polished all parts painted, all keepers pinned. This should be a lot of fun to shoot off of.

...LOL...Mike probably used a soft wire wheel. I often do the same with brass parts. Use a stiffer wire wheel for steel parts and wipe down with a de-greaser before painting.

Nice job,Mike.

Ya. 10-4 on the wire wheel for all the big areas then small wire wheel hand tools fo nooks and crannies. Scotchbrite pads to match finish. I gave up on chemical strippers. Too messy. Keep in mind old paint contains lead so water a ventilator if you wheeling it. It become airborne dust. Safety safety.

The equivalent to filling a car with packing peanuts- sneak in and paint mikes tripod blaze orange.

Hint: if anyone ever wanted to really get Toolman203, don’t paint it blaze orange, paint it one shade off the correct shade.
