This was my first build ever , it took 3 weeks to get my barrel back from Seattle where they welded my barrel extension on.
I got my receiver and compliance parts from ORF , and after working nights in the Company Machine shop i finally got it together.
The Mags are Dura coat matte black , and the rifle is black park , it really wasn't that hard to do and the ORF parts fit perfectly . I had to fit some of them to the receiver but nothing drastic.
Sunday i put 150 rds through it and it was dead on at 100 yards with no problems at all.

I didn't think it was to bad for a cherry build.

phal, i need pics of the fire control group. i am sitting here staring at all the parts with a giant ? above my head. and really i prefer to see what i am doing than trying to figure it out and messing something up. more so i just don't want to have to replace any parts that i goof up.

7.62x51 thats a really good drawing ! all my stuff looked like that except i got the safety lock from Rodger Wilcox ,his look a lot like the ones from OOW. They are a steel disk and his trigger is steel also. I used my old pins and cut the snap ring grove in them on a lathe useing the ones i had in my CZ USA rifle as a guide. Rory i still have the pins like you see in that parts kit if you need some pins ,the SA receivers are more narrow inside and kits like 7.62x51 is showing make things a lot easier to assemble.I like the way Rodger does the barrel extension ,it is welded but he shapes down the weld so it is hard to see where it is at ,he says he dosent like to use pins, with a weld there is no question.
I had to do some fitting on the receiver but it wasn't much ,mostly the bolt hold open and some pin holes. It isn't hard to come up with all the US made parts if you use a kit ,and the extractor ,firing pin ,sight post ,piston & spring are all US so it helps to go over board .
I like the wood also ,rifles with wood are just better looking rifles ,and the upper and lower hand guards on this gun are US made.
They say they make them out of a better wood with little heat shields in them.
As hot as these can get it is a good idea to do that.
You will sell or safe queen your AK after you have one of these , the quality is up there with FNH or HK ,and after you mess with one they are not an AK or even close.

Rory, Be sure to ream the sear pin hole just a bit or it will bend when you install it, ask me how I know. It needs to be trimmed slightly too so it doesn't bind against the side of the receiver. But then again, you may have better luck than I did. All in all I'm really getting to like mine!!!

I did have to run a reamer through the holes for the pins.
The hard part is seating the Barrel.
The ORF receivers do not come drilled for the barrel retainer pin.
They have a detent where you know were it goes though.
I used the old chopped receiver to line up the drill bit, vise and table.
Its was like the Head Space was pre set on this hole because the chamber just touched the bolt facing and the pin went right in through the old grove in the barrel chamber.
Captmax is right ,it has become the rifle of choice and they grow on you real fast.

Did anyone else notice their trigger just touches the trigger guard bottom when squeezed? Mine does but I will file and parkerize it afterwards. I also had to "fit" the gas piston stop, it needed to be filed to set flush with the inside of the receiver. Sill.........nothing major and I now give Rapid Fire a bit more respect for what they do! :D

CaptMax , it may be that your trigger housing is a little bent.
On some of these it looks like they cut the rivets with a bull dozer.
The gas piston stop i had went right in , but i did have a CZ USA rifle to go by so i sort of was cheating when it came to where everything went.
Uh ,Dano that rifles main spring i think has to many ears on it.
I believe it is supposed to look more like this.

Yes to many leafs, that was a dealer model. That pic was to get an idea of placement of the
other parts., which is still a mystery to me.

Does anyone have the details of which parts go together first etc?

Like i said it helped me having the SA, CZ ,USA rifle on hand.
Put the trigger in first ,then the safety/selector ,then your sear and safety lock along with their pin last.
Make sure the disconnecter on your trigger goes below the sear pin ,and the notch in your safety lock goes into the slot in the selector.
Im sorry that photo was with the rifle still dirty as hell , i can clean it up and try to show it better if you need it.
A smart man will cut off the extra leaf on the main spring , leave no room for doubt.
I have shot this rifle in rapid fire , they are light and small and difficult to control in rapid Semi fire ,i couldn't imagine being able to control one in FA.
Plus they heat up very fast ,so bad you cant even hold them anymore.
But as a carbine they are great ,and accurate.
