I found a rear sight for my 1917a1 build and just picked up a top cover at KC last show. I decided that I needed to see how the sight pieces looked together and noticed that the sight is a complete assembly for a water cooled 50 cal. The sight is marked 50 cal M1 on the ladder and is in very good condition. Anyone got an idea of value?

Thanks,

Yep

Value is relative to what someone will pay for it. the going market value for these sights, I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that I bought mine from BMG and I paid 800.00 for it and to top it off it was frozen solid with solidified cosmo or something, had to have lucky rebuild it for me. Looks like new now.

Anyway, they are pretty rare and some would say that BMG is always on the high side with his prices, but with some items he is the ONLY game in town and he knows that. On the minus side, there does not seem to be too many people looking for them.

They look pretty cool on a HB gun, that is where I have mine right now.

Hope that helps a little

Yep, that's a nice find. I know it's not what you were looking for, but it might come in handy one day!. I have a line on one myself. Might get it in trade for one of my 19171 repro sights. In fact, I am considering some variations on the engraving for my repros. If I can get small batches done for a fair price, I might do the 50 cal, as well as some of the other 30 cal versions.

Wow did not know they were that expensive. Guess I ought to take mine off the beater post sample 1917. Didnt have a 30 and the 50 fits right in the 30 base after removing it from the 50 base. These prices on parts never cease to amaze me.
