Time to play another game of name that part. I bought this barrel a couple years ago and was told that it went to an m37 the problem is that I don't know which m37 or if that is even the right weapon that it goes to.

I believe the M73 was designed specifically for the M60 tank. I was able to find an Operators Tech Manual 9-1005-233-10 dated July 1974 (with change No. 1, 10 May 1977). This manual does not have a parts list but for some reason the only part they list by number is the barrel. It goes by National Stock Number 1005-00-972-0196. There was also an M219 The main difference was the barrel extension and feed tray (not interchangeable) and an M73A1. The M73 is also covered to some degree in the manual on the M60 tank.

It was another wonder weapon designed to replace the "aging" Browning designs like the M85 designed to replace the M2 .50 caliber. Both over complicated and expensive failures.

So you could say it is an M73 or M219 barrel.

M73s were also used in the V100 commando 2nd version turret. I'd be interested in the barrel, provided you still have it after 5 years.
