What ever happened to the good, Patriotic cartoons?

Captain America, Iron Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc.

They STOOD for something. America.
Jonny Quest's dad was a scientist, their bodyguard was CIA. That cartoon taught kids right from wrong, and threw is a little science (fiction).

Now we have whiny assed little pukes in cartoons.

ed edd & eddy. WTF is THAT?

Captain Planet? PLEEEASSSE!

..and don't even get me started on any of the newest **** coming out!
Makes me wanna puke.

What happened to our heroes?
Superheroes fighting for Truth, Justice and the AMERICAN way?

Some of them are coming back as feature films, but they've been "updated"

Like Tony Stark being painted as an "evil" arms dealer? Since when is producing weapons to defend America "evil"?

We need these icons. Sure, they're caricatures of an idealized society. So what?

Instead kids are playing Grand Theft Auto, stealing cars, using hookers, drugs. That's a good game?

Cartoons today are made to either brainwash kids into wasting money on useless junk or trying to further a Socialist agenda in the name of "education"

Kids can't even be kids anymore.

Sigh.

I hear you, But I hate to admit, spongebob Is the greatest thing on the planet! Im sure if evil and tyranny hit bikini bottom he would get together with mer-man and barnacle boy and defend It to the death sending a good message to our youth in the process. But I must digress as I never plan on having children. But yes, positive super heroes with positive messages are unfortunately a thing of the past.:(

Patriot,

I know what you mean and agree 100%, the cartoons for the last decade are ***** at best, and if you're in the other room listening (esp to Sponge Bob) the characters sound gay and in heat.

My son plays on an old X-Box he bought with his own money, his favorite game is "Far Cry - Instincts", if you don't already know the game, read up on it. Any gamer here will tell you it rocks, 1 player and story/mission has good plot. 2 player, heads up, one on one, I tell you the boy is ruthless on his old man. ;)

Who here (from the old Navy) can recite "Barnacle Bill" in it's entirety??

"Who's that knocking at my door? Who's that knocking at my door? Who's that knocking at my door?" Said the fair Maiden..

"Open the door ya G****** W****!!" says Barnacle Bill the Sailor..

It should be required memorizing and then maybe, just maybe, there won't be so many queers and more men!!

:D

My son loves the boomerang channel on our satellite. They play all the old toons like Iron Man, Batman, SuperFriends, Superman etc... He loves it. In fact I was watching Iron Man last night and I forgot how much I loved those toons as a kid! Remember VOLTRON!! they show it to! :D
I won't let me kids watch regular TV its gotten to bad. At least with a sat you can block certain channels and ratings.

anime'? No thanks. Too many cookie-cutter faces. ...and they can't draw eyes worth a damn. Too much 'BUY THIS TOY" crap. I'll take good old American cartoons.

Cartoons with a message about America would be frowned upon today. Some panty waist from Pago Pago or Gaboon would whine because it would portray them in a negative light and would probably sue them for defamation. Gotta be PC ya know. I still remember the theme songs to the old Hulk, Capt. America, Iron Man etc. and that catchy guitar solo from Spider Man from those cartoons as a little kid. I used to like watching the earlier G.I. Joe cartoons also, before the story line got ridiculus. But even as a kid got perturbed at the fact that no matter how bad the vehicle got destroyed or how big the explosion was you would always see everybody make it out safely. Even as a kid I knew better.
