I picked this up at a local shop I'm pretty sure its 30 06 one of the pictures is of a 30 06 round in the barrel I tried one in my 762 and it wont go in.
It looks to be crome lined dated 1959 still in the wraper
I would think its an original US part
Bore is spotles and shinny
So do I make up a conversion kit for my 1919 or sell it

First things first

Carefully check the barrel for numbers and letters stamped into the surface of the barrel it should match the paint stenciled numbers, also there should be a manufacturers code, most likely SAK (Saco Lowell shop) along with an Ordnance "Flaming Bomb" and "P" proof mark. A real oddity would be a RIA marked barrel.

Picture shows a chrome plated front barrel bearing surface, this assenbly, it's called an assembly because its comprised of a tube, liner, retainer and pin assembled into a unit of issue has a stellite chamber insert and a chrome plated bore. In any event, it's a real find.

Always amazing that NOS stuff keeps showing up 50 years or more after the fact, in it's original shipping container.

You gotta winner

Nice find! This the same barrel used in the M34. You can down load TM9-1005- 225-12 from the lower left side of the portal page and get parts diagrams of the 1919A4 and M34. Stellite chamber and chrome bore, in a semi it'll last a very, very long time.

Check out the barrel very closely, sometimes the bomb wasn't stamped very clearly, it was done by hand, and looks like a circle, or part of one

Or, put it up on the fourm, somebody out there will give his left nut for it.

One thing certain, they ain't making any more of them.

That would be the M37.:)

Also all of the SAK barrels I have seen only have the P mark and no flaming bomb (about a dozen to date, so not that many). I would have to check my RIA as I don't recall on that one.

Sarco is selling very good cond ones for $125 each. All of the ones I got gauged 1-2 TE and 1 on ME.

How about my left testicle? That's what I was looking for a few weeks ago. I thought I bought one from Allied and what I got was a plain jane used "vintage" barrel that has apparently been reparkerized. Mad, maybe a little. Thought I was getting a chrome lined barrel for $150, nope. :(

Sound like a Stellite lined barrel to me, what you're seeing should be the end of the liner. The ones that I have and have seen don't have a really pronounced ring sometimes you gotta look real close to see it.

Yours is Stellite lined. As for being rare, I would say not at all. Ordered 4 barrels from Sarco last month for $125ea and two came in as SAK and two as RIA, all stellite and all like new. One RIA was 100%unused. Take a look at the chamber face end of the barrel and you sill see a small stake punch mark at the liner seam as well.
