Well I have decided to sell my Browning M37. It is on a Form 4 in Oregon. I purchased it new from Bob Landies in 1995 and it has not been shot in 7 years. The gun comes with the following and I would like to sell it in a complete package deal but dont really know what to ask for it.

Browning M37 gun in .308 also have one 30-06 barrel and cartridge stops. Gun runs great with belts or links with no changes.

SPARE PARTS SET with extras as supplied by Landies (it was like pulling teeth to get it at the time)

Vickers tripod with original wood ammo box and and adapter I made to hold a .30 cal GI metal can.

Sit down pottie mount that uses the Vickers cradle.

Belt Loader set up for .308 and have 30-06 parts. Was converted by Landies.

23 - 100 round belts

12 - 250 round belts (7 brand new)

Linker

Approximately 6000 links (over 3500 still in box)

7 spare barrels (4 NIW)

Assorted Manuals

Gun and barrel canvas bags.

Regular 1919's on a Form 4 go for $16 to 19k with NO accessories. Tack on an easy $5 to 8k just because it's a 37. Spare 37 kits are getting $2 to 2.5k. Tripods are anywhere from $1 to 1.5k.. even the Vickers tripod shown.

Do the math.

I was going to make a comment about $23-26K with all the goodies that go along with it. (The spares, tripod, belt-loader, links, etc....)

I re-read the description and looked closer at the parts involved as spares....

There is more or less two parts kits lying there other than the LSP. Add that there are at least 7 spare barrels, and some parts are SPARES of 3... I'd almost like to re-up the number to somewhere closer to $30k.

Probably could ask 30K and stop at 29K and still come out on the "well sold" side.

IMHO there are two large things to consider when selling something like this.
1- Do you want or need the money quickly?
2- Can you wait a year?

To sell the machine gun alone (no tripod/nothing) quickly, 14,000 would have it out the door fast.
Fair value would be 17,000 , but you may wait a year while you deal with all the tire kickers. You can always get lucky and sell it on the first day

I have found that over the years when someone makes a big purchase like your weapon, they want the extras thrown in at a large discount. You may be better off to offer them seperately if you don't mind the extra work. I would think there would be many that would love to have the tripod setup for their semi of full auto weapon. I would personally like a loader one day etc.

On the whole setup for a quick sell I estimate 17 to 18,000.
If you get the right buyer, or you can wait and deal with all the tire kickers 23 to 25,000. to sell seperately you may get an extra 2,000

Once agian this is JMHO.

What's it worth....

I'm sorry but "Tribrothers" is spot on. I wish he wasn't. I have a NFA Beltfed that I can't get 75% of what they were selling for a year ago. To show you how soft the market has gotten in the last 3-6 months look at this ad.
NFA Market Board

Selling Ermco (pre-Ramo) factory built M2HB. gun was unfired from until about a month ago when we timed and heaspaced it to tes fire. has had about 100 rnds through it. I dont have a mount, but have the timing and headspace guage with it. asking $20.5K, this includes 1 transfer, buyer pays actual shipping from 83704. More pics available to serious inquiries.
thank you,

So as much I hate to agree with "Tribrothers"....its worth exactly whatever you can get for it...if you have to sell it right now. The market....like Gold flucuates....at we're in a very low cycle right now. Most of the prices others quoted here were when it was at an all time high....plus 10%. I have spent a lot of money on my NFA investments (the rest I wasted on women & whiskey
and aviation)....and right now....its hurting. You have to ride the cycle out or take a beating like this fellow selling his Ermco M2HB.
Lifes a *****...don't marry or vote for one.

I agree with Tribrothers and Tirediron.......

20.5K for a like new M2HB and it wasn't sold instantly Wow! It really just depends if you need the money right away or can afford to wait and see if the prices come back up or.... drop some more. Figure out what you paid for everything and decide how much you want/need to make on it. Check out the values on subguns but listed prices aren't the SOLD prices. The same guns are listed over and over again for the inflated prices. Take a MAC .380 $3,200 will sit for a few months 4K and up will be there a long time. $2,800 shipped on a form 3 sold right away to me:) The seller could have held out for the extra 400 bucks but wanted to move it. Win Win for both of us. Belt feds are taking a real hit because 8mm is gone and the stuff out there is .35 a round. 30.06 is less than 308 and the 308 is .50 cents a round! .70 cents linked!
I think Tribrothers is right on with 22K-25K is fair value for everything 6 months ago but if you want to sell it Today you should be able to get 17K-18K no problem. Hell 16K and I'll buy it tomorrow:) Even though for 4K more I could buy a 50BMG! I hope this helps. That is a real nice piece you have there with alot of great accessories!!!!

REMEMBER: Happiness is a belt-fed machingun!!

Dissagree with Tribros and Tired...

All depends on the condition of the gun. I know it's a sideplate gun, but still. If you think the market is soft for beltfeds, go to the Julia Auction website and check out what the real things are going for. Look up the estate auction of Bruce Stern, over 100 mint, original NFA items will be up for bid. Check out the expected range the guns are listed at.

Market is anything but soft... for the real thing
