I've got a nice semi 1928 that needs to be blued. It seems that due to the size a lot of guys aren't able to accommodate it. Does anyone know of someone that can do it? It's the last thing I need to do in order to complete the build. There must be someone still out there capable of it?

As the others have said, it really is in the prep. If you polish it you can find some one to black oxide it and it will look great and much easier to find people who do that. If it is not polished all the bluing in the world will not make it look like nice. Just like a car paint job, its all in the prep.

I did mine at home and it was not that hard, actually it was very enjoyable. I did not get the surfaces perfectly clean and prepped, but I was not looking to make it look brand new either. IMHO it came out very nice. I have a thread somewhere on this forum that discusses the build. M89

I do hot blue in my shop and have a deep enough tank. Disassembly, degreasing and with polishing being the most important. I would be interested in doing one so I can measure up some water jacket parts I'd like to fabricate. The finish before it gets dipped is how it will look when it comes out. I just did a batch, 1911, shotguns and a walther p38 yesterday. This pic of the 1911 slide fresh out of the oil tank and I will be assembling it later today. Feel free to contact me
