A question on Parkerizing solution:

I have a small turkey fryer Park setup and I plan to keep solutions (both Zinc & Manganese) in 5 gallon plastic gas containers when not in use. Does anyone know off hand whether these will freeze if left in an unheated shop, and if so, is there a problem with that? I'm not keen to store them under the house where they would not freeze.

It will freeze, it has water in it.
Put the stuff in plastic jugs and store it in a heated space.

The undiluted full strength solution comes in a plastic jug, you can certainly place the diluted stuff back into one and store it indoors. Put the jug/s in a plastic catch pan like a dish pan if you are afraid of any leakage.

Jon, here in Minnesota we know all about froze park juice.

Last winter when I needed to change from Zinc to Maganese, the tank, a cut off fire extinguisher, was a solid block of ice. I warmed the outside with a torch for a second and slid the long tube of frozen solution out on an unused bench where it lay for several months. Still using the same park this year with great results. Some times I have to add an extra newts eye or a penny or two to keep the shade that GI green but other than that still working good.

Hope this helps, Dutch

I'm guessing you put it back into the tank before using it, right Dutch?

Or is it in a horse trough out behind the shop somewhere? :D :D

Happy New Years ol' pal! - Hope ya make it to Texas as planned!

BTW - I have the same problem here in Wisconsin, and I leave mine in the garage year-round. It freezes, and it still works after thawing out, with a little refresher juice added.....
