Cool but the large open slots on the side let in a lot of dirt. Apparently they were there to allow the gunner to draw the magazine follower back to load the magazine. The tool kit that went with the gun also had a curved metal rod with an 8mm Lebel cartridge soldered on the end. It was used to push the magazine follower back. Then the point of a bullet could be inserted in the small hole to hold the follower back while cartridges were inserted. A wood box issued with the gun held two magazines.

I never thought there would be much of a market for Chauchat stuff. Back in the 60' you could buy three of the guns for what a single magazine now costs.
