I have this wooden box that says it is 8mm Bredda ammo. I have many cardboard boxes stashed away from 1937-1942 with this ammo still tied up with twine. There looks to be about 1300 or more rounds of ammunition. all of it plus the wooden box $500.00 I have no idea of the condition of the ammo if it will fire or not. some is steel case and some is brass. Has a goofy ring on back around the primer. I would prefer local pickup but for a fee I can fed ex ground it to you. There are many more of the tied cardboard boxes that are not shown. I will send every bit of this I can find for the 500.00.

Italian 8mm Breda ammo is 8x59 as opposed to 8mm Mauser which is 8x57.

A bit of info. As far as MGs in the US are concerned, the 8 mm Breda “rebated rim” round can only be fired in the Breda M37 HMG. There are a few M37s in the US that are in that caliber, but there are very few transferable M37s ANYWAY, and only a dozen or so pre-May samples if I recall. The ammo has been scarce in the US and also the strippers in that caliber. However, a debt of gratitude is owed to IMA for importing a quantity of Portugese contract M37s (m938?) years ago that are not in the 8 Breda caliber but in 7.92 and the 7.92 parts will fit in any Breda. Large quantities of 7.92 strippers and loaders were included. So the large majority of the the shooter M37s in the US were outfitted with 7.92 parts and run in that caliber.
Maybe someone with a Breda in the original caliber will see this opportunity. Good luck.

yea it is mainly for a collector...i was selling these for $1.00 each for years, thought it should be listed here in the off chance someone had the correct chambered firearm.

Pedro Bello brought some of the pre 86 samples in that were the Portugese contract M938 model in 8mm Mauser . I bought one of them. It came with all the accessories tripod and AA set up, all in their respective chests. What a fun gun to shoot!

It is an interesting history of the rifle caliber "heavy" machine guns. The cartridge was developed to have a longer range than the standard rifle caliber guns so that the "heavy" model could take out the standard model on the battlefield by having a longer range.
