Weaponeer.net has an exclusive deal for members... we have an all new product that will allow you to convert your M4 Style AR15 (works on semi and NFA) from direct impingement gas operation to a long stroke piston system much like an AK for the ultimate in reliability.

This Gas piston conversion has three major benefits

1. Carbon is kept out of the receiver and bolt, so less fouling and cleanup (expecially after shooting wolf ammo)

2. Bolt remains cool and clean even after extended shooting sessions

3. Unlike the other conversions on the market, this is a long stroke conversion which is a LOW Pressure system that puts very little stress on the weapon, unlike the short stroke HIGH pressure conversions. lower pressure = less wear.

We have 100 units to sell and we only have 45 days to offer this extremely low intro price. (note: normally gas piston conversions don't sell for much less than $400)

Price: $249 SHIPPED

Payment: Money Order or Credit Cards Accepted

Shipping: 4 weeks after order submission

Note: This model unit will only fit the following barrel diameters

Measered an inch inbord of the site. 0.875, 0.850 or 0.640. This covers most barrels in the 16" barrel range including the M4.

this unit requires slight modification to the handguards (which have been done to the included handguards) for clearance.

When will they ship?

Will they ship four weeks from the time an individual order is submitted, or four weeks after all 100 units are sold and the total order is submitted. If paying by CC is the card billed now or when the kits ships? Thank you.

first off... I'm told they will ship 4 weeks after I send in the initial order.

WE DO NOT WAIT FOR ALL 100 TO BE SOLD!!! every couple weeks I send in the orders I have. It might be 1 order it might be 400. the order qty really does not matter.

The only thing I have is 30 days to offer the super low shipped price. after 30 days the pricing may go back to the typical pricing for gas piston units.

Check here Rory,,http://www.weaponeer.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6392&PN=1&TPN=4

It looks as if it interupts the gas tube just behind the front site base and under the handguards where it morfs into the piston style,,, very interesting. Much simplier than the old Rhino system. Probably a snap to install too,,,
As most people know.. most gas piston conversions are short stroke high pressure units. When the short stroke units first came out they used a modified carrier key, but the high pressure short stroke units are very violent and they were shearing the bolts off very quickly. Rather than eliminate the violent forces they just made the parts heavier and stronger such as special modified bolt carriers etc.. and while that allows the parts to withstand the violent short stroke action, it doesw not prevent the added wear of the parts, or eliminate the resonance on the barrel due to the nature of the short stroke.

This system was designed as a long stroke piston to correct all the deficiencies and stress caused by the short stroke designs. It has all the typical gas piston positives:

  1. No more carbon passed to the bolt and carrier
  2. no more heat buildup, so cook offs are nearly eliminated
  3. the receiver stays clean
  4. the bolt stays clean
  5. no more gas exiting the charging handle
  6. far better reliability
  7. simplified cleaning (now even wolf ammo is easy to clean)
  8. easy installation

The long stroke design also adds
  1. less wear
  2. no special bolt carrier
  3. lighter
  4. because no special bolt carrier is required it works with both right and left hand bolt carriers
  5. works with semi-auto and full-auto
  6. less resonance to effect accuracy
  7. added controllability
  8. cheaper

The only cons with Gas Piston conversions (long or short piston) are the fact that the forends on the M4 were designed around the gas tube which is narrow and nearly form fitting. Just like the other conversions, this one includes a set of round forearms that have been modified to provide more width clearance. If you have aftermarket rails or other forearms for your rifle, you may have to modify them for the added width of the piston conversions compared to the gas tube. but this is true for all gas piston conversions.

G43/SVT40 gas system?

That's what it looks like to me. Anyway, just curious.

I was toying around with the idea of putting a piston system on my STAG 6.8 SPC, will this unit work with that cartridge or is there a different unit for the 6.8? Is there a regulator of any kind on the unit or plans to add one? Do you guys take Am Ex?

Thanks,
Mike

One more thing!

Just a note on the piece that clamps onto the barrel, it is held on with only two screws. I know that those are plenty strong enough, but being the anal retentive engineer that I am I think putting four screws in the gas block/clamp would make me feel better.:D

WHo is the manufacturere of this system? Has it been thorooughly tested (i.e. hwo many rounds) to verify the carrier key is not going to shear off?

I read the description, but I would still like to know the testing that went into it...

The unit has been tested by TNW on both semi and full auto weapons.

Available for other calibers?

I have a full length AR and I plan on building a M4 soon. I an thinking about making it a 6.5 Grendel M4 and I just bought a DPMS LR-308 that was supposedly "slightly used" and man was the upper and bolt group in that rifle all gunked up. I think a piston kit for the DPMS LR-308 (or 260, etc) would be great as well.

Any thoughts there?

We currently have 5.56 and 6.8 SPC versions in carbine right now.

we are working on .308, 9mm, and 6.5 Grendel.

We are also looking into a .50 Beowulf version if people are interested.
