Truth is he can ask any price he wants, a near new (test-fired) example woulld be worth far more than the rough/rusted beaters I see on local shelves, they're asking $200 and up. Used/GC Russians will bring about $250 here.

Good ol' days, Chinese beaters in early 1990 with broken/cracked stock, $50, for $25 more you got a new Ramline folder, the dealer literally sold a truckload within hrs.

Thats about Right!

Thats about the going rate for nice clean ones out here in Arizona @ the gun shows ya see the little Carbine ones going for even more. so he's not far off on that price there. If you see Russian or Chinese SKS's for $99.00 Buy all you can get & drive down here you will sell them. Heck you could get $50.00 just for the Triggergroup alone & part out the rest. I know Lobo needs some & so do a few others here.

Think I'm a liar if you will, true story from back in fall, good friend bought a Norinco Para for $100 and I was there to inspect rifle for him. Wood was beat up with deep dents, blued finish was about 80% with very light rust, bayonet and lug gone, bore perfect.

Previous owner had bagged a few deer with it, deep woods/neglect had took a toll on the rifle, SKS was part of divorce sale, not the "D" model using AK mags, if it was, my friend would've lost that one. He also got a Norinco Hunter (AK in disguise) for $250, you wouldn't believe the same rifles now, both could pass for new. :D

Not taking up for SR, some backwoods/non-computer FFL might sell a few beater Russians for a deal, esp if they see nice Yugo SKS for under $200.

To answer memlost's question, Pres ordered embargo on all Norinco products (10 yrs??) for Chinese selling missle parts to Iraqis, all the new repro western scatterguns sold under and stamped w/ NEW name, beats embargo. Military rifles stamped "Norinco" so they are no-go for importation. Heard the same deal on all military mags and ammo, disgusting to say the least.

Yea

Yea because if they were still allowed the Chineses would be making & selling copy's of any & every type Military rifle we would buy the sky's the limit to what they would have flooded the market with imagine a Chinese MG42, 34 or some nice semi DP28's for cheap.

I second this, we are interested in purchasing 10 to 15 Chinese or Russian working SKS's in the $100 range. Immediate payment and shipping direct to us with our FFL please.

Doubtful. Since no one can import non sporting military firearms into the states anymore (if I'm wrong about that someone tell me so I can shut my trap please), the Chicoms or anyone else for that matter would not be able to send us MG42, MG34, DP or anything else along those lines, copies or not. They'd have a hard time convincing whoever makes the decision that their beautiful MG42 semi copy is for hunting geese or for olympic target shooting...

I think Blackrifles is talking about a one time deal for the SKS, from a privet party, not from dealers, you can often get surplus rifle from people way under the market rate...I bought back a SVT-40 from a friend of mine who I had sold it to about 6 years ago for $300. I offered him 4 but he said he'd take 3 sometimes you get lucky... that was way under the market rate for sure, but I also sold a beater SKS that I paid $79.00 for years ago it went for $250. I've gotten many really good deals for gun over the years but you have to have cash in hand... Gun values are going to climb very high very soon... B2B
