Hi Guys
I have just finished a run of 1928 incomplete sideplates. They are made out of 4130 steel, have the cocking slot and drive spring cutout. They are not engraved. The internal machining is all done with all slots cut to fit 1928 parts. The cost per plate is $ 225.00 plus shipping and insurance by USPS, UPS, or FedEx your choice.
Also available are:
Trunion rivets with an oversize head and just a little longer length to make blending in easy. $ 3.00 each
Trigger blocks. These replace the web on your lock frame so that the semi trigger fits properly. Note these will not work on the cast frames $ 20.00 each.
Payment by US Postal Money Orders please (unless you have talked with me first) Orders will go out ASAP after I receive payment. Everything is here and ready for shipment. There are 40 plates available and demand will determine if I do another run.
A real big THANKS to Gary Lavarnway for permission to use his approved island design.
Until things get sorted out in CA contact me for details before you order.
Thanks for looking
Dennis

jmann, yes, these are the same. The problem was the concern of liability for any plate seller following the Halo situation. Since these are not finished, the question of whether the recipient was an FFL didn't come into play. If one was papered, they would all have to be or else a conflicting interpretation could be created. Since things have calmed down and ATF has not pursued the issue any further, it appears safe to market unfinished plates as of now. Sorry about the lost money order. :( But I can vouch for the quality of the plates. I don't recall if I had pics posted the first time. Mine is at the engraver's right now, but as soon as I get it in hand, I'll post new pics. :)

I am trying to reach him by phone. I had a different e-mail address than the one he posted above, and it may be that he just hasn't checked this account lately. But I know him well and will get word to him. Meanwhile, I found some photos I had taken before. Here is one example. Once I get mine back from the engraver, I will post that and have more info on his services if anyone wants it. I am using the same engraver who originally did several of the Group Industries plates some of the 1928 FA guns were built on, back in the day. The work is pictured in Dolf's Vol. II.

None here either. He went quite early Dec on this sale and nothing received back.

Lucky13:

On your plate, have you matched it up to your bottom plate yet? I had word back on some issues with his earlier plates not fitting as it should have in a couple areas. It required a little hand fitting to make it work but left a few unnecessary gaps as a result of the mods. This was my one of my question to the seller but I never got a response.

I have not fitted mine yet. Will check that upon receiving my plate from the engraver. I know what you are referring to, the notch for the elevating bracket. I don't know if this will be an issue on every kit, but it was about a slight, 1/16" gap just to the rear of the bracket in that one case. I have two Argentine receivers and the fit is not consistent on the left side between the two. One is Colt, the other I think is an Argentine mfg, which might make a difference. I'll let you know soon.

Thanks Lucky#13,
I'm in the same boat, one Colt and one Argentine to work with. Now if we can just get Dennis to reply. Keep me informed on the engraving progress, I'm very interested in getting mine to match the originally issue marks.
