I've got some WW2 German stuff given to me by my father and uncle (both WW2) vets. All this stuff came back with them from Europe. The guns I know, but not current market on them. The edged stuff I know, but not the current market. The militaria stuff I know little to nothing about and nothing as to its value.

I'd like to get any information on this stuff you might know and what its replacement value might be......for purposes of insuring them.

The link to the album containing the (42) pics is here:

Here's a pic of the SS Dagger.........

Ballpark figure

My guestemate is $20-30K. The police kepi is in real good shape, many of your items look mint. Try to get as much documentation about your families military service, if they are still alive, have them sign off on a statement as to when/where/how/why/whatever they came upon these items. That will certainly put you over the top on items like the dagger, which are very difficult to persuade investors they are real, unless you have something to document them with. I hope my estimate is wrong in the sense the lot is worth more.

I was just reading a pretty good soft cover book that you may wish to get ahold of. It is called: World War II Collectibles" by John F. Graf. My copy was from 2007. This is a price guide picture book with lots of color pictures. I believe some of the prices indicated are a bit high and some seem right on. But that's the way it usually is with this kind of book.

Wow! Are you serious? Do you know anything specifically about those medals, hat, or helmet? Any info would be appreciated.

I didn't realize when I up-loaded the album I was missing pics of the MP40 smg (yes it's regesitered.....to me) and a Hitler Youth knife. They're in there now.........

That K98 is in great shape. The dufflebag cut adds to the authenticity! Congrats man. Wish I could inherit stuff like that.
Scott, thanks for the post.....you do realize there were (3) rifles in the album........

BYF 41 Luftwaffe 98k (with the duffle cut)
DOT 44 98k (with the duffle cut)
98 .22 trainer (no duffle cut)

as I mentioned above, just added a couple pics of the MP40 and Hitler Youth knife

Yes I am

Some of those ribbon bars can fetch good loot. The dagger is a real prize. It is all about provinence. If you can prove where this stuff came from (eg not a 'parts' dagger), you can get top dollar. As for the MP 40 - well if it has title and is transferable that is easy enough to establish on your own. Yes, for insurance sake I would put a good premium on them. You have some nice stuff in very decent condition.

There was a time when I had a real grip on the market for the medals. I am somewhat out of the loop today. Your talking to someone who personally sold an original Gau Badge with the commemorative date of 1923 for $500- ten years ago. Today I see them going for over $2000-. I had an early Party badge serialized in the 6,000 range and also sold that for another $500. Today that is cheap.

The kepi is real nice and would make a serious headgear collector fork up the cash.

I recall seeing some collar tabs with a red background. I think those are of a General's rank, but I could be wrong. The Hindenburg medal looks like it was struck in real bronze and not wartime pot metal. You should look that one up.

hkg3k,

VERY nice collection and I hope it's ALL in a nice vault. A lot of that stuff showing up now, the more people that know you have it, the bigger a target for thieves, esp teens nowadays. Most stolen militaria is very hard to recover. :(

The Luftshutze helmet is EXACTLY the same as one I saw in Budapest Hungary last week in an antique store. They were asking 60000 HUF, which equates to about $360 or so. Don't know if that's what they're worth, but that's what they were asking. As an aside, the Luftshutze was the security police arm of the Luftwaffe. Funny, I go my whole life never seeing one, and now I've seen two in less than a week.

I believe the luftschutze was the air raid protection police, the anti aircraft gunners (clarification only).

The mp40 makes the collection. With that and the SS you'd be around $20k pretty easily I'd think.

Go here:http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/nfa4sale.cgi
for selling prices on mp40s

The k98s bringback (if all original) are around $1000-15000 max.

For the large ribbon bar, between $100-200.

A safe price for the luftschutz is around $280. I bought my couple for around $100. The luftschutz helmets were for non administration employees: air raid wardens etc. I believe most anti-aircraft crews wore luftwaffe helmets

The police shako: at least $500. The piece in pic 698 goes on top of it.
To give you a general idea: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305789&highlight=police

Panzer assault badge: over $200
SS Dagger: I'd say at least $10k since its in great shape.
The cufftitle appears unique, at least $200 safely I'd say.
$60-80 on the buckle.

I couldn't answer on the luger or other rifles, but I'd say at least $1000 on the luger.

The HJ dagger is interesting. It seems like it might be a period repair on the leather parts of the scabbard as they shouldnt be pebbled like that. Probably $100-200.

The other militaria pieces, mostly smaller prices under $100.

Hope that helps and if you're interested in selling any of the german items, I'd be interested.

Im sorry, did you say 10K for a dagger? WTF!?

I thought I lucked out when my ex-father-in-law gave me a k98 bayo attached to a Luftwaffe belt and buckle!

I still think that MP40 is in the 10-15 grand range.

Look, Ive got plenty of Nazi blood pulsing thru my veins...(grandparents were from the Fatherland) and I really think its cool to preserve this stuff. History is so often forgotten, and the loosers never get to give their side of the story.....Also, I love to offend people just by saying Ive got a "Nazi stamped so-and-so"....

But C'MON!!! Who the heck is gonna pay THAT much money for a knife? You gotta be either seriously warped and into Nazi crap or have WAY too much money at your disposal.....

A gun, maybe....a car, ok....even a painting perhaps.....but 10K for a knife just because its a Nazi relic?? Sh/t, Hitler had better have cut his own butter with that knife!!!

Scott,

I completely agree with you but some people do put down those prices for them. More commonly they're in the 5k-8k range though.

I know that for some super rare k98 codes, I've seen 5k+ prices on gunbroker even if the rifles were RCs.

Again, it's pure craziness, but I just wanted to give the original poster a ballpark range for price range.

P.S. If the SS dagger prices shock you, don't even think about looking into the value of SS uniformes
