I tried to search for past posts before posting this I'm sure it's been asked and answered before I just can't find it.

I have heard several horror stories regaurding .308 ammo made in India.

All of the problems I have heard of were with the OFV head stamp.
Any problems associated with KF head stamped ammo?

The KF ammo has a head stamp of : KF 77 7.62A
The OFV ammo has a head stamp of : OFV 98 M80 7.62

Ammo looks alright no loose projo's , no split necks , no black goo oozing out around the projo's , no corrosion signs.

Any comments appreciated
Thanks for your time
GW

And any comments on ZV head stamped ammo.
I think it's Czech (Sellier & Bellot)
The ZV ammo has a black colored primer ZV 69 7.62
Anything funky about it?

I've shot thousands of rounds Indian ammo, all carefully inspected, OFV 98 M80 (in clear 10 rnd bags) was the worst, 10-20% reject rate in some of it. Rejects had splits and chunks missing out of necks, dented casings, crooked or poorly seated bullets, primers protruding, didn't find any tar leaking or corrosion.

This was way before any i-net reviews or horror stories, quickly noticed rifles were not accurate, pretty much cheap "blasting" ammo. Cetme/M-14S/bolt rifles ate the sorted ammo up, FAL hated it, you better clean the rifles carefully soon after use, the powder IS mixed or casings could have corrosive primers.

All in all, I had no bad experience when I used it, cannot say the same for well-known (major brand name) domestic ammo, some idiot let a batch of 30-06 out with NO powder in it, pop and NO recoil. In-law wound up with bullet stuck in bore of M1 Garand, I grabbed up rifle as he was trying to "chamber another round and clear the dud"!

As with ALL ammo, inspect each round, pay attention, use it at your own risk!

George,

That ammo is very dangerous!!!! Friends don't let friends shoot Indian ammo so I will take it all off your hands and dispose of it for free.:p

Here is a headstamp link for you:
http://cartridgecollectors.org/headstampcodes.htm

I personally would sort it and blast it, but only in a 1919 (no rifles held to your face) and only on a low tripod (so you don't get brass in your legs or package:eek:).

Thanks Dave
Nice of you to let me shoot it in your gun.

Thanks for the link I looked on there to find out about the KF head stamp but always thought it was the OFV Indian that had problems still trying to find out about anybody having problems with the KF Indian.

I need to dispose of it soon.
I would think the fire season might be over.
I think I'll call LC.

Thanks for the info on OVF ammo that I picked up at the last gunshow. Only got 50 rounds and it won't go into the M1A or the HK91. I'll feed it to the 1919A4 when it comes time.

i paid 10 cents a round for about 2k rounds of the ovf stuff. last gunshow that i went to i say them being sold at 40 cents per.

if anyone wants to pay me 30-35 each you can have em :)

i will even take trade even up for 223 boxer primed
