Has anyone bought 308 Bren Gun barrels from Numrich?
If so, what condition where they in?
Naturally most interested in the bore and chamber condition.
Don't want to pay them $520 plus shipping for shot out barrel.

FYI barrels are not for the British L4 brens. The South Africans did their own version of the conversion and there is some differences in the chamber end of the barrel that effect head space. They can be made to work on the British L4 guns by changing the bolt and extractor. If the barrel has a cut out (like a 303 barrel) for the extractor you will need to use a 303 bolt and an 8mm extractor. If there is no extractor cut out then use 7.62 bolt and extractor.

Would someone please post a pic of this .308 BREN barrel? I know DS Arms was selling surplus Rhodesian .308 BREN barrels about ten years ago. I've never seen a South African one for sale in the US.

Received the two L4 barrels I ordered from Gun Parts Corp (aka Numrich).
They are really NOS barrels, chromed chambers and bore with phosphate finish.
They both are in excellent condition, have gas blocks and flash hiders installed, and one has the front sight installed, both are missing the handle assembly as I went for the cheaper option.
The L4 barrels have the bottom cut, but are missing the top cut.
The top cuts, if needed, will be a easy milling machine job.
I'm very pleased with the barrels.
If you want one, I would suggest you but now, as I have no idea how many they have left.

Forgot all about this thread and have a couple questions. So to make a MKI or MKII run in .308 I just need one of these barrels from Numrich and a Bren L4 .308/7.62mm extractor from DSA since the barrel has the bottom extractor cut and thus can use the existing .303 bolt...am I correct? If so then it's time to blow the dust off the CC and make a couple phone calls.;)

The question was brought up earlier if ZB-39 mags are the mags needed for this .308 conversion, is this what everyone uses and how many rounds will they hold? TIA

You need some sort of 8mm magazine to complete the conversion.
I have two storage/transport cans each with four CZ LMG 20 round 8mm mags that work fine.
I just do not remember exactly what flavor of CZ LMG those mags were originally used on.
I would also assume a MG13 mag could be converted, and the L4 308 mags likely can be converted by adding a spacer onto the rear of the mag.

Thanks for the videos and the input from you guys. I have plenty of ZB-39 mags so I think I'll go that route, as far as the .303 mag followers I'll start looking for those. If nothing else I have 20 or so of the rusted Bren mags, that CFS sold cheap a few years, I can strip the followers out of and use if they're not too bad off.
