The OD of the end of my new Op Rod Guide Tube is .921" (just as specified in the armory print). It will to not fit into the trunnion bore by hand.
The armory print states "selective fit".
What type of fit was to be used? Pressed fit?

What did the rivet look like that was used?
My trunnion also has a cross pin right at the top of the trunnion tube bore that locked the tube in also.

Just an FYI - If you are unable to properly complete the task yourself....Gas Tube installation / Proper setting of the gas tube is a service that we provide. We perform this service to USGI specifications, which involves pressing the gas tube in and then riveting it in place (the same way Saco Defense did this)...... Cost of this service is $150. The rivet is included in that cost. Once set, we apply a cold bluing to the rivet head to blend it in with the rest of the finish. No welding is necessary when PROPERLY setting the tube this way.... Of course this is all dependent on if your M60 parts are in Spec. Many trunions out there are out of spec and unusable. One common issue that we have seen from customers is the diameter of the gas tube socket on the trunion being to small or to large.

Thanks, looks like I'm going to need to rig up a jig to ensure that it is clocked correctly as it is being pressed in.
There you go, advice from the master of the M60's and considering the cost of the parts these days having Aaron do it could save you a ton of headaches and money. Good luck with the project and keep us posted.

Thanks.
I will need to turn out a plug gauge in order to determine the bore size.
It would be well worth the $150 to have it done professionally.
But, I'm not willing to ship the parts at the present time.
I very recently had some vintage gun parts lost in the mail. All that I received from the US Postal Service was the shipping label that was torn off of the package, along with an apology letter.:cautious:
