You can legally build a fully automatic BFONG - with a one piece specially fabricated receiver and "barrel" section from Indianpolis Ordnance - (it is not a barrel just looks like one.)

The other parts can be from an original MP40 parts kit, lower section.
However they will only fire proprietary (9.3mm) blanks and CANNOT be converted to fire any kind of projectile.

I have several for film work, they're indistinguishable from the real thing on camera.

that’s definitely along the lines I am looking for! Preferably an original MP40 lower, with a blank fire upper. I believe the SSroom MP40s were built like that. If anyone has one of those to trade for my K43 I’d be
very interested 👍
The SSRoom BFONG is a very different firing mechanism (back to front, with the gases being vented backwards to cycle), we had one of those, but they are not as durable and don't look as good on camera, the mags are loaded back to front, they cock by pushing the cocking lever forwards, etc., the Indinapolis ones work better for our purposes. We sold the SSRoom gun eventually, it went on GB for an outrageous figure, so they are certainly good investments if nothing else.
