I had a few minutes to think (I know, silly) and was thinking about the M134...what it is, and is not (??).
Forgetting about the external power and control, for a minute, focus on the gun only.
Since it's a gatling gun, each barrel is loaded independently. However, since it ejects and feeds each barrel automatically, it is by design a semi-auto.
The only thing that makes it automatic is the external power/ control.
If one were to use a cam/lobe design with interrupted electrical signal, instead of the factory power device, would it not then still be semi-auto?
In other words, the only controlled part should be the external power device?
