Scientist behind 'gold standard' model that predicted 500K deaths in UK (and 2 million in US) admits he was off, now says there will be 20K or fewer in the UK
It would seem an error of this magnitude, during a pandemic, by a person in a position with the responsibility to advise their Gov't to make major decisions that effect the entire population of a country, would face both professional and legal repercussions!
You'd think, but it's not the first time. I read something earlier today saying this is the same guy whose models led to the massive cull of livestock during the hoof and mouth disease outbreak some years ago. If a diseased animal was found, all livestock on that farm - and all adjacent farms - were also killed. The economic damage was over $6 billion. Later reviews found the measures excessive. Somebody needs to retire.

Someone needs to be keel hauled and introduced to the cat'o nine tails!

Dr. Neil Ferguson, the extremely influential epidemiologist behind the coronavirus model that led the United States and the United Kingdom to enact shutdown measures to combat the pandemic, has now drastically revised his estimates.

Ferguson, who leads a team of researchers at the Imperial College in London, informed members of the U.K. Parliament Wednesday that deaths in the country as a result of COVID-19 are unlikely to exceed 20,000, and in fact could be much lower, the New Scientist reported.
I've been saying it all along and I'll say it again: we are going to look back on this and laugh, and cry. Laugh at how everyone overreacted, cry for those lost and for the damage to the economies of every country on the globe.

Psychologists and Sociologists will be studying the individual, societal, and governmental responses for years to come...

And still come up with the same ****!

Doing the same thing over and over an expecting some different result id insanity

I have a much more poetic solution, if anyone within a 10 mile radius of him came down with coronavirus, I'd say we need to cut his hands off and tear out his tongue so he can't write, type and speak any of his gibberish
Being a swabbie, I'm still going with keel hauling. few if any ever survived

Checked out the local full service market, plenty of everything, variety breads milk, meat and more veggies, snack stuff, eggs cheese, pasta, rice, beans
flour sugar yeast (not that any of the helpless ******* millineals would know what to do with the staples), beer wine and every kind of liquor you would ever want.

that's too easy, dead is dead...……..him being crippled and muted for the rest of his existence on this planet is far more torture, everyday he'd have to think and relieve that day, and what he did that brought him to that existence

HAHA!

I have watched in three times over the years and really have not seen what other do in claiming it is one of the funniest movies of all time.

Perhaps I'll give that movie a 4th try.

[Add to Queue: Princess Bride]
Mr.Maim, go for it. Maybe the fourth time is the charm. As much as I dislike Rob Reiner, for his politics and general nastiness, this film is his greatest legacy. I think it is one of the most clever and funny movies ever made. But then, we all have different senses of humor.

Meanwhile, "the pain" is definitely the appropriate punishment for some in our system today! Good call, Chris!

Downloaded. I'll watch it tonight. :D

He also shut the schools down for the rest of the year,my daughter is ticked, she has been looking forward too and planning for her Junior prom since her sisters started doing them 8 years ago!
She hates online schooling,I don't blame her I tried a couple of classes over the years and could never enjoy them either!

That really sucks. I agree that online is nowhere near as enjoyable or engaging as being in the classroom. At least she'll have her Senior Prom!

Our school doesn't do a senior prom because we always did a big senior trip,my class, back in 82 went to Mazatlan Mexico for a week, back when it was still safe, my oldest went on a one week cruise, next 2 did a week in Cali doing all the big parks! They figured out years ago that if you did a big senior prom that you didn't have money for a big senior trip, when you only have 15-30 kids in a class you can get away with these kinds of trips!
Her class has been talking about doing a fall formal if they get to go back to school next year, which is OK for her but the Chinese exchange student we have this year is really bummed, they don't get to do things like this back home.
Ever since she got here last summer she has been looking forward to two things, today we finally got to do one of them, this is her with my third and fourth, can you guess which one is her! She had a great time and tried everything that was offered to shoot, the 1911 was a bit much but at least she tried it,which is more then my skinny daughters would ever do!
