Is Japanese 7.7 MG ammo safe for a bolt gun?

A friend of mine just inherited an Arisaka. She wants to shoot the gun, but just for a few rounds and then hang it on the wall. I have a box of 7.7 on a machine gun feed strip. Was MG 7.7 loaded hotter than regular bolt gun ammo?

EDIT: Disregard. I just found out that they are not interchangable to to the MG round having a semi rimmed case.

Yeah, no sooner had I posted that, then I googled it and saw some places selling them as MG ammo only. Thats when I read about the rims. But, WHAT THE HELL were the Japanese thinking?? 7.7 MG ammo will load on the magazine box, the bolt picks it up and will even let you start to close the bolt before jamming up. I wonder how many guys have just shoved them into their guns and slammed the bolt home thinking it was just dirty??

Given that my friend will probably never shoot more than 5 rounds from this gun, a single box of aftermarket ammo may be all I need. But good luck finding it here locally in Syracuse, and I dont want to pay 20 bucks shipping for one box. My search continues.

I can reload you some softies (10??) if you want. I even have HE bullets for added interest. They dont always work, but neat when they do. I have several hundred rnds already reloaded for Jap. T-99 machine gun, but that is the top of the IMR 4895 recommended powder capacity.

The standard rifle ammo, the 7.7x58 can be fired in the T92 HMG in place of the 7.7x58sr ammo.
The 7.7x58sr is not really loaded hotter than the 7.7x58, it just uses a heavier bullet.
By the way, the Japanese also loaded a different 7.7x58 for use in the T99 LMG, but again it was not loaded hotter, it just had a heavier bullet.
