An instrument very similar to mine is illustrated and described in Volke Myrvang's book on the MG34 - MG42. Closer analysis of the photo shows some differences. I would like to know if any of the forum members have an instrument like mine. Evidently my copy is not the more common Messdreieck 34.

I was lucky to find original pouch for this Messdreieck!!! Not the best condition but I am happy with it.

Very cool and super rare. Black leather would make it post WWI?

It is 1928 dated. Leather accessories were at that time (WW I and till 1939) mainly not painted and displayed natural brown colours. From the other side I have in collection Glasvisier16 sight in original leather box and box is black.

Thats very interesting sight as well. These interwar items I find interesting but there does not seem to be a large collector market for them. My dream piece is the MG08/15 Lafette sitting in a Museum but the owner still would not sell. I have been emailing him for years asking if he would... maybe one day.

I really like the Leather Lock box from this period as well. I would like to find one for sale. This one just sold in a lot in an auction this weekend. Hopefully the buyer might consider selling it to me.

The good thing is that You know where it is and You are in touch with the owner. I have in my collection items that I had been waiting for from 10 to +20 years. I am not much familiar with that black leather lock box. Do You have more pictures of it? I think I have seen it maybe only one time.

Sorry I don't think I have any other pictures of the leather box handy. However there is a picture in the Devils paintbrush. Its has that piano shape box look to it.
