Right now there are three empty transit chests for the rare Portuguese M/944 MG34. And there have been others, as noted in previous posts. It would appear that a majority of those packages imported into USA were used for spares or builds and parted out. Sadly shocking, in hindsight. The chance of re-assembling all the matching numbers parts and accessories is probably about zero. Those nasty MG shooters of the generation that preceded us had no respect!

If you need one of these complete, mine is on GB at less than IMA sold them a bunch of years ago. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1045175243 I can sell direct for less than on GB.
A friend of mine (who I purchased my Lafette from ) said a company called Ryton arms in the UK went to Ukraine or Russia (need to ask which one ), to purchase a huge amount of weapons in a salt mine in the 80’s or 90’s. Blindfolded him at the airport and was told once he arrived he couldn’t cherry pick anything he needed to buy everything in one go, and he did .
Imported everything to the UK where lots got deactivated and kept pristine with the boxes , other equipment too such as Lafettes and other weapons.
A few shipping containers went to the USA but the guys at customs decided to burn all the wooden crates to prevent insects coming in. Those boxes would be worth a fortune now

Hi! Here is another for the database. My father and I have #1822c. Purchased from IMA/Sarco back in the early 90’s complete with transit chest, 5 barrels and the usual accessories. Painted and all matching except for the feed tray which is 2343b. The barrel jacket says DOT 43 but the feed cover is bpr 1944 and #656. It has barrel #5 in it now which looks to be CYQ 41. In the process of getting one of the semi receivers to work with it (don’t worry, we bought a separate bolt for them to modify). The chest and other components are at my fathers so I will have to get over there for more details.
